What does the Committee do?
The Committee plays a central role in driving the mission and impact of the Foundation. Through thoughtful planning, community engagement, and year-round initiatives, the Committee leads all major fundraising and partnership activities to support our environmental and medical research goals.
Here’s how the Committee actively raises funds and awareness for the Foundation:
Membership & Donations
The Committee manages our annual membership program, setting the subscription fee (initially $50) and welcoming new members who want to contribute to our cause. Ongoing donations are also coordinated and stewarded by the Committee.
Corporate & Business Partnerships
The Committee invites businesses and corporate sponsors to support our mission. In recognition of their support, participating partners are proudly featured on our website.
Strategic Fundraising Initiatives
Throughout the year, the Committee organises and oversees key fundraising events. A signature event is our annual Heart Tree fundraiser, held online each February 14 to align with Valentine’s Day and honour loved ones impacted by chronic disease.
Tote Bag Program
The Committee coordinates the design, production and distribution of our eco-friendly tote bags — a unique initiative that reduces plastic waste while raising vital funds. Bags are:
-
Distributed through a retail loyalty program
-
Available for direct sale to the public and local businesses
-
Offered at discounted rates to primary schools, kindergartens, and early learning centres as a fundraising tool for the start of each school year
School Engagement
The Committee drives school-based fundraising through:
-
A Heart Tree Challenge for secondary schools – a 3-week initiative encouraging student engagement and fundraising. The program will launch as a pilot with the vision to become an annual tradition.
-
Ongoing collaboration with educators to ensure all activities are meaningful, educational, and community-focused.
